about
Carolyn Hunter Mottern is a multidisciplinary artist currently living in New York City. During her childhood being carted all over California and the East Coast, Carolyn developed a love for libraries and as a result grew a deep affection for graphic novels. Her passion for printmaking and ceramics began in the woods, experimenting with river clay and making inks and pigments with her sisters. She loves telling stories with her work, often stories about people's relationship to the places they live, how a person relates to a place in the same way they would relate to another living creature. She intends to extend her artistic practice as far as she can into every field and technique possible. She is shaken and disturbed by the idea that she will never be able to understand everything.
